Tansu (Japanese chest of drawers) C1553

An old tansu (Japanese chest of drawers).

Repaired while keeping its original character.

Structural areas such as loose joints have been repaired.

The drawers and doors have been adjusted and open and close without problems.

As this is an old piece made of solid wood, it has scratches, stains and cracks.

The hardware has a keyhole, but there are signs it was modified in the past and the lock area has been plugged with wood.

There is no locking function or key; the hardware is decorative only.

The main body can be separated into four parts: the upper section, the lower left and right sections, and the base.
