Zelkova Wood Small Chest C0795

This is an antique small chest.

It is crafted from Japanese zelkova (keyaki) with a magnificent grain.

The top board and side panels are joined using a dovetail joint. The tips of the dovetails are extremely thin, cut with the precision of a single handsaw blade. It is assembled with sophisticated joinery that exudes a sense of tension.

Structural elements, such as loose joints, have been repaired.

The movement of the drawers and doors has been adjusted and they open and close without issue.

One key is included, which works for both the sliding doors and the drawer above them.

As this is an old, solid wood piece, it features scratches, stains, cracks, and warping.
