Merchant's Chest F0280

An antique merchant's chest (choba-tansu).

Restored while preserving its original atmosphere.

Structural elements, such as loose joints, have been repaired.

The movement of the drawers and doors has been adjusted and they open and close smoothly.

As this is an antique made of solid wood, please note there are scratches, stains, cracks, and warping.

The drawer above the sliding doors features a double bottom, with one loose panel on the underside. This panel has shrunk due to contraction and is quite loose and easy to remove.

There is a hidden paulownia wood box behind the lower drawer inside the sliding door section.

There is a keyhole, but no key is included.
