Purple hardware kasanedansu (Japanese chest-on-chest) B0483
A paulownia kasanedansu (Japanese chest-on-chest), remade.
The metal fittings are painted purple, and the wood is finished with a clear coat that keeps the texture of the bare wood.
Since ancient times, purple has been regarded as the highest-ranking color, a symbol of sanctity and nobility.
The quiet purple of the iris, loved by people since the days of the Man'yoshu, is given to the fittings.
This tansu can be separated into upper and lower parts.
Placed side by side, they are almost the same height.
The joints have been repaired and the drawers have been adjusted. There is a keyhole, but there is no key.
As this is an old piece, it has fine scratches and signs of age.
