Chest of Drawers with Chestnut Front Z0002

This is an antique stacked chest (kasane tansu).

Scratches, stains, and cracks resulting from age have been preserved to maintain their character.

Structural areas, such as loose joints, have been repaired.

Large cracks on the top panel and inside the drawers have been filled and repaired.

The interior surfaces of the drawers have been sanded and cleaned as much as possible.

The drawer movement has been adjusted for smooth operation.

The chest can be separated into an upper and lower section.

The underside of both the upper and lower sections features an inscription in ink reading "Meiji 37" (1904).

There is no key, and none is included. The locks have been fixed internally to prevent them from being locked accidentally.
