Tansu (Japanese antique chest) B0167

An all-paulownia tansu (Japanese antique chest) with handsome paulownia-leaf metal fittings.
Everything, down to the back panel and the drawer bottoms, is made of paulownia.
The gentle, orange-glowing grain of the paulownia contrasts beautifully with the black metal fittings, giving this chest a crisp, well-defined look.

In our own workshop, we repaired damaged areas such as cracks in the wood. We then planed the entire wooden body to prepare the surface and finished it with new paint. All the metal fittings were removed, polished and repainted as well.
The drawers and doors have also been carefully adjusted.

There is a keyhole on the lock fitting, but no key is included.
