Zelkova-front cabinet B0096

A cabinet reimagined from an old zelkova-front tansu.

The sliding doors were changed to glass, and the body is lifted on newly made legs.
Where the body meets the legs, brass pipes and wooden parts create a gap that adds lightness.
The tips of the legs are capped with brass.

The wood is finished with wax, bringing out the powerful grain and deep color that are typical of a zelkova front. Zelkova is used for the front, Japanese cedar and paulownia for the body, and solid poplar for the legs.
The brass on the leg tips is unpainted, so it will gradually darken with time and develop its own character.

Structural areas such as loose joints have been repaired, and the sliding doors and drawers have been adjusted.
One key for the drawers is included (shared by all three drawers).

As this is an old piece, it has fine scratches and signs of age.
