The sphere has a mirror finish, made by carefully repeating cashew lacquer and polishing, with a deep gloss reminiscent of urushi lacquer.\u003cbr\u003eThe tansu body keeps its aged, characterful appearance; it has been cleaned and the inside has been sanded. A piece of paper reading “Meiji 17” (1884) is pasted on the side. The remaining writing is illegible.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe upper section has sliding doors, and on the right a kendon-type (lift-and-drop) door. Each door has one shelf inside (removable). Below are three drawers. Joints have been repaired, and the doors and drawers have been adjusted. It has a keyhole, but there is no key.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA light is installed inside the cone. The switch is on the right side of the underside of the tansu. It is powered by a cord with a standard household plug. When the light is not in use, the cord can be stored on the board inside the base.\u003cbr\u003eThe back of the base has adjusters, so you can level it on an uneven floor.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs this is an old piece made of solid wood, it has fine scratches, signs of age and cracks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e[Please note]\u003cbr\u003eThe base and body are assembled and fixed as one unit, so it cannot be disassembled. It is heavy, so always move it with two or more people.
